Dr Anke Nguyen

Dr Anke Nguyen is a PhD-qualified gastroenterologist and endoscopist with a subspecialty interest in inflammatory bowel disorders and bowel cancer prevention. Due to her research background and clinical experience across multiple gastroenterology departments in Australia and internationally, Anke is committed to providing safe, evidence-based and proactive care to all of her patients.
Anke received her Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery from Deakin University and completed her basic physician training at St Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne. She undertook advanced training in gastroenterology at Launceston General Hospital, Royal Melbourne Hospital and Monash Health. After becoming a gastroenterologist and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), Anke undertook additional years of subspecialty training and research, including 1.5 years at the internationally renowned university hospital, Charité Universitӓtsmedizin - Berlin, in Germany. Here, she undertook clinical and laboratory research as well as intestinal ultrasound training, subsequently obtaining International Bowel Ultrasound Group (IBUS) certification. After further intestinal ultrasound training at Alfred Health, Anke became a member of The Gastroenterology Network of Intestinal Ultrasound (GENIUS) and is now a trainer of intestinal ultrasound for other gastroenterologists and advanced trainees.
In 2024, Anke was awarded a PhD by Monash University, for her research in exploring biomarkers of inflammation in patients with inflammatory bowel disease. She remains in a research affiliate position at Monash University.
